Professionals don't reinvent the wheel, but they find the best wheel and bolt it on securely. However, adding dependencies is a recipe for technical debt. The reality is that every npm install is a trade-off, i.e. you’re trading a few hours of development time today for an indefinite maintenance commitment tomorrow. You aren't just importing code, but you're also importing every bug, security hole, and breaking change that comes with it. In an AI-controlled environment, it’s dangerously easy to let an LLM pull in three different libraries to solve one problem. But a high-performing engineer knows that the leanest codebase is often the most resilient one. You have to treat your "Supply Chain" like a guarded community. If a dependency doesn't earn its spot by being high-quality and strictly isolated, it’s just a liability waiting to break your production build.
